When it comes to preserving memories, there’s nothing quite like displaying beautiful family portraits in your home. It’s not just about having photos; it’s about creating meaningful artwork that tells your family’s story for years to come. At my studio, I offer a full-service experience that goes beyond just taking photos and uploading them to an online gallery. From the moment we meet to the final reveal of your custom artwork, I ensure every step is personal, thoughtful, and tailored to your family’s unique journey.
As your Perth family photographer, let me walk you through one such experience, showcasing how I worked with the Farrington Family to update their family portraits and transform their home.

Step 1: The Photoshoot
The Farrington Family have always been passionate about family portraits. Over the years, they had filled their home with professional photos of their family. But when their regular photographer retired, their tradition of updating their portraits came to an end—until we connected a few months ago, through another wonderful client of mine!
When we first met, we talked about how the girls had changed since their last shoot 5 or so years ago, and how important it was to preserve this new chapter of their lives with updated family portraits. After all, one daughter has already moved out of home, and who knows how much longer it’ll be before long term partners come along! 😉 We planned a session full of fun, laughter, and genuine connection—capturing the essence of who they are today.
The session itself was full of energy, with each family member bringing their unique personality to the photos. From playful sibling moments to tender shots of parents with their children, we captured it all. It was truly a celebration of family!

Step 2: The Design Consultation
After the shoot, it was time to sit down together for the design consultation. This is where the magic happens. During the consultation, we viewed all the photos together for the first time on the big screen. I helped the Farrington’s choose which photos best told the story of their family and how we could design the perfect display for their home.
This family already had a set of black-and-white canvases of the girls hanging above the piano in their living room from their previous shoot, and they were eager to update them. But they didn’t want to lose the memories captured in the old set—so we decided to keep them as part of their new design. The idea was to move the existing canvases into the hallway and add a matching set with updated photos of the girls, creating a perfect blend of past and present!
In the family room, we injected vibrant colour into the space with a custom canvas collection designed to tell the many stories of their family—family portraits, sibling shots, and moments of just mum and dad.
This stage is about more than just selecting photos—it’s about making sure everything fits perfectly with your home and your vision. I love helping my clients create something that will be a lasting part of their home for generations.

Step 3: The Final Installation
After the design consultation, we moved onto the final stage: installation. Now this is not something I usually do, but…. since they chose a completely custom and asymmetrical piece, it required experts to get it right! So I delivered all the artwork personally, and stayed to make sure the installation was perfect.
The Farringtons chose to display their new canvas collection above their piano, a place where they could enjoy it every day. Seeing the family’s reactions when they finally saw their new artwork hanging in their home was priceless. The mix of the custom collection with their original black-and-white canvases created a beautiful story and talking point as you enter their home. The updated family photos now take center stage in their living room, breathing new life into the space.

Why Wall Art Matters
Wall art is more than just decoration—it’s a way to tell the story of your family and preserve memories that would otherwise fade away over time. The Farringtons’ home is filled with love, and their updated family portraits reflect the bonds they share. Every time they pass by the canvases in their living room or hallway, they’re reminded of the beautiful journey they’ve been on together.
When you invest in wall art, you’re not just purchasing a photo; you’re creating a piece of your family’s legacy. These images aren’t meant to sit forgotten on a USB drive or gather dust in a drawer—they deserve to be seen, cherished, and shared with the people who matter most. Wall art transforms a house into a home, making it feel warm, inviting, and full of love.
