The Last Piece of the Puzzle - Family Photography Perth
When Eunice first got in touch with me about family photography in Perth, she and her husband Steve had recently bought their home and were in the middle of transforming their entrance hallway. Wainscoting going up, a feature wall taking shape, and a very clear vision of what it was all going to look like when it was done.
There was just one thing she knew she needed to complete it. A beautiful family portrait, right at the heart of it all.
When she booked her session with me, she knew her vision was finally going to come to life, and understandably, she was so excited about it! And so was I
By the time Eunice’s family walked in front of my camera, that entrance was almost finished. The photos were the last thing it needed.
The Family
If you’ve got kids in that tween and early teen zone, you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say the sibling dynamic is… complex. Eunice’s two, a 13 year old son and a 10 year old daughter, have that classic frenemies relationship that most brothers and sisters that age do.
There were absolutely some gentle negotiations and strategic bribes involved in getting them to stand close and actually look like they liked each other (I assure you they do!)
But here’s the thing… they knew how important these photos were to their parents, and they showed up for it and had a good time. They were good sports through every pose and prompt, and we ended the session with a fake mid-air punch fight between the two of them, all flying fists and big expressions (they took the challenge very seriously!) They bought that photo. Of course they did
If you’ve been worried about how your kids will behave on the day, Eunice’s family is your answer. Check out this fun little reel below to give you a reality check of the situation!
The Experience
Eunice had never done a professional shoot before. She loves taking photos and selfies, so she’s no stranger to being in front of a camera, but a professional session had always felt like a big step. Support and guidance were really important to her.
That’s something I think about a lot, because what I offer isn’t just a photo shoot. From the moment a family books Perth family photography with me, they’re supported through the whole experience. That includes a reveal and design appointment after the session, where we look at the photos together for the first time (on a huge screen in a tear-jerker slideshow!) and work out exactly what’s going where in the home. Most photographers send a gallery link and leave you to figure out the rest on your won. I don’t. And it’s one of the most special parts of the entire experience.
For Eunice, that appointment was where the final piece clicked into place. That hallway had been waiting, and now she could see exactly how it was all going to come together.
The Finish Line
When the photos went up on the wall, the messages started coming in. I’ll let Eunice speak for herself:
“Erica look at this, it has transformed our entrance! A dream I had for my home has come true and it’s so beautiful. I’m so proud of everything.“
“You have taken your time to make sure we are so happy with the photos. You have such a beautiful heart. Can’t wait to book again when the kids are around 18!”
“Thanks for helping us choose the best of the best… we wanted to keep everything as they were all perfect! “
Months in the making. A wall built piece by piece. And the photos that finished it.

Thinking About a Family photo Shoot in Perth?
Nobody ever feels completely ready. There’s always a reason to wait, the kids are at a tricky age, life is busy, it’s not quite the right time. Eunice had been thinking about this shoot for years.
If you’ve been putting it off, I’d love to hear from you. You can learn more about what the experience looks like and get in touch on the Family Photography page.
