From Wedding Day to Family Session

Geri and Liam were married in 2017, and I had the privilege of photographing their wedding day. When Geri contacted me last year to organise a family session, I was so excited to hear from her! A lot had changed since their wedding day. They now have a four year old daughter, Aliyah, and a rescue French Bulldog named Coco who’d become as much a part of the family as anyone else. Family and dog photography in Perth is one of my favourite combos to photograph, and I knew this session was always going to be special 🥰

Coming Back for Family and Dog Photography in Perth

There’s something really special about photographing a couple on their wedding day and then watching their family grow. Geri and Liam originally booked a three generations session, bringing together both sides of their family for the first time in a long time. But life had other plans, and the session ended up being just the three of them… plus Coco of course! 🐾

It turned out to be exactly what it was meant to be ❤️

The Session

Geri mentioned in her pre-session questionnaire that they’re all a bit awkward when it comes to professional photos… and she wanted the experience to be relaxed and fun. That’s always the goal, but add a four year old with places to be and a French Bulldog with her own agenda… and fun is guaranteed, relaxed is another story 😅 Take a look at some behind-the-scenes footage from their session here.

Aliyah is one of those kids who is fearless, cheeky, and completely full of personality. She and Coco disappeared into their own little world more than once during the session, which made for some of the best moments of the day. My job is to create enough gentle guidance that nobody’s left wondering what to do with their hands, while leaving enough room for the real stuff to happen in between.

And it always does 😍

Coco's story

Coco didn’t have the easiest start to life. When Geri and Liam adopted her, she was frail, unwell, and not connecting with anyone. Her little face rolls were infected and stuck together and she’d been through a lot before she found her way to this family. But Geri knew she needed to take her anyway.

She had no idea that this little dog would become her daughter’s whole world.

Every single morning, Aliyah wakes up, finds Coco, and the two of them cuddle and play before the day even starts. They’re inseparable, and it shows in every single photo from this session.

When you include your pet in your family and dog photography session in Perth, this is exactly the kind of bond that gets captured. The real stuff. The everyday stuff. The stuff that matters ❤️

The Artwork

Head to my Instagram to watch Geri’s reaction when she came to collect her family’s artwork.

This family walked away with a stunning collection of canvases, all carefully edited and finished to the standard that wall art deserves. Because when something is going on your wall, to be walked past every single day for years, it gets treated like the artwork it is. If you want to see exactly what that editing process looks like, take a look at this reel.

When Geri collected her artwork, she said: “I’m so glad we did this. We’re still relatively young, Aliyah’s at a good age… it’s definitely worth it. It makes the house feel like home”

She’s not wrong.

This is going to bring so much colour and life to their living room!

During their Reveal & Design Appointment, I mocked up exactly how their canvas collection would look like on their living room wall, using a photo of the actual space.

No guessing, no hoping it’ll fit, no wondering if it’ll suit the space… they got to see it so they could place their order with confidence.

The other stunning vertical canvas taken on the staircase will go in their bedroom 😍
