A Full Circle Extended Family Session in Perth

Extended family photography in Perth is often about more than gathering everyone together. Sometimes it’s about holding onto a place, a story, and a season of life before it changes forever.

Some locations are just beautiful. And some hold decades of memories in their soil.

In 2019 I photographed Jayne and Ryan’s wedding, and also their engagement session. Their engagement photos were taken on Jayne’s parents’ stunning property just outside of Perth. A place filled with meaning, history and love.

Jayne also got ready there on her wedding morning. Champagne in the kitchen she grew up in. Laughter echoing through familiar rooms. Wedding portraits beneath the trees in the driveway that had stood for decades.

It was more than a backdrop, it was part of their story.

Fast Forward to late 2025

Six years later, Jayne and Ryan are now parents to two beautiful boys.

And her parents, after 40 years on their beloved property, made the bittersweet decision to downsize and sell.

Before closing that chapter, they knew they wanted one thing:

An extended family session at the place that had shaped them all.

When families enquire about an extended family photo shoot in Perth, it’s often because they understand how rare it is to have everyone together. This session was exactly that. A moment to gather siblings, partners, children and grandparents in one meaningful place before it was no longer theirs.

Extended Family Photography in Perth Across Three Generations

Not just a photo shoot, but a legacy.

Grandkids in the cubby house that raised their imaginations. Adults gathered at the outdoor bar that held decades of conversation amongst a beer or 3. Parents and grandparents standing on the land that built their family.

Three generations. One final chapter in a place that meant everything, now preserved forever.

The Next Chapter

What made this extended family session in Perth so powerful wasn’t just the scenery.

It was the meaning. This wasn’t about just “updating family photos.” It was about honouring a season that was coming to an end.

Jayne’s parents built their life here. Raised their children here. Welcomed partners, babies and new beginnings here. The property had held it all… childhood adventures, long Sunday afternoons, a wedding morning… and now grandchildren running through the same open spaces.

Before letting it go, they gathered everyone together. Siblings, partners, grandkids to stand on the land that shaped them.

A full circle moment.

Not long after our session, the move happened. Forty years of memories packed into boxes. A new, smaller home. A different pace.

Now, although the land has changed hands, the photographs live on beautifully displayed in their new home. A daily reminder of the life they built, the love that grew there, and the legacy that continues.

The property may be sold. But the memories are not.

From a Family Property to a Family Home

Leaving a home filled with forty years of memories is no small thing.

When Jayne’s parents downsized, they weren’t just changing address. They were stepping into a completely new season of life. Different walls. Different light. Different rhythm.

So it felt especially important that the photographs we created didn’t stay tucked away on a hard drive.

Together, we designed a collection of artwork to live in their new space. Not as decoration, but as anchors. Familiar faces. Familiar places. A visual thread connecting where they had been to where they are now.

Now, instead of looking out over the property each morning, they see those moments reflected back at them inside their new home.

The land may no longer be theirs, but the story still is. And that’s the quiet power of printed photographs. They move forward with you.

Creating Photographs That Hold a Family’s History

I often say I’m not just photographing families.

I’m documenting chapters.

And this one?

This one felt incredibly special to be part of.

Jayne and Ryan trusted me with the beginning of their marriage.

And now, years later, I had the honour of capturing the legacy of the place where so much of their story began.

This is why we don’t wait.

Sessions like this are why extended family photography in Perth can be so meaningful. Because every family is living through a chapter that one day will feel like history.
