As a general rule, I recommend you stay away from bold patterns such as checked shirts, big branding logos on t-shirts, stripes and large floral patterns. They will often detract from your lovely smiling faces, so I advise to stick to more neutral colours, as they’re less likely to date too.
However, if you have an ‘ugly Christmas sweater’ you simply must wear to your Christmas shoot, please bring it along or wear it if it’s going to really enhance your experience!
The most important thing is that you’re all comfortable.
A full experience family portrait shoot goes for about an hour, so there’s plenty of time to warm up shy little ones. But for a 20 minute mini shoot, time is limited.
I have a few tricks up my sleeve and will have a helping hand on the day, so we’ll do our best to engage and connect with your child. But if your little one is finding it hard to let their guard down, we will do what we can on the day, but this is all we can do in the allocated time.
If you’re really concerned your child may not warm up to having their photo taken, please email me to discuss some ideas so we can all be better prepared for the shoot and be able to offer you the best possible experience.
Your happy selves! And well rested and fed children is ideal 😉
In order to keep the set safe and clean for everyone involved, there won’t be many props to include in the photos unlike previous years.
You’re most welcome to bring along any Christmas teddys/toys, or books, or even your child’s favourite toy/blanket and I will happily incorporate these into your shoot if you wish.
If you or anyone in your family are unwell, please cancel your shoot for everyone’s safety.
As the Christmas mini’s are strictly for 2 days only, it’s unlikely we’ll be able to reschedule to another day with the current Christmas set.
You’re welcome to transfer your shoot to a family/friend instead, however, if you have your heart set on having some Christmas photos taken, please call or email me to discuss some alternatives.
